Primary Numeracy

Children learn mathematics in a variety of ways, but in order to apply their knowledge they must develop a firm understanding of mathematical concepts.  Through a variety of tools, strategies, manipulatives and technology students will be supported to better understand whole numbers, fractions, and money, counting forward and backwards, and solve problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with single digit and multi-digit whole numbers.

Primary Literacy

These early years from grades 1-3 focus on building a strong foundation and skill base to further develop language skills.  Students will focus on understanding oral language, letter-sound relationships, knowledge of vocabulary, and writing for an intended purpose.  Supporting children with many opportunities to explore a variety of print forms will deepen their love 4 learning.

Early Numeracy

Children's first experiences with math take place naturally from early play to everyday occurances in the home, whether they are measuring, counting, or finding patterns, soritng objects, making connections and making comparisons. Supporting children to demonstrate an understanding of numbers, number relationships, counting and quantity is a first step in developing a strong foundation.

Early Literacy

Children learn and develop literacy behaviors through daily interactions and experiences with others.  Providing children with ongoing opportunities to express thoughts, ask questions, retelling, and naming both verbal and non verbal communication will help to develop literacy skills enabling beginning readers to make sense of what they read and beginning writers to communicate their thoughts with others.

How we Can HELP

A Bit About Me

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.  My name is Jenny DiMaria, I am an educator, certified with the Ontario College of Teachers and have been so fortunate to have had a most rewarding career in education over the past 30 years.  I have experience within all levels of the Elementary Panel, I am qualified in Special Education and have 20 years of experience in Administration.  Over the years, education has vastly changed in all aspects; curriculum, delivery modes, instructional strategies, support services, assessment techniques and points of focus.  What has not changed however is that each child is curious, eager to explore and experience the world around them. They each bring with them unique talents and skill sets based on their own learning experiences.   They each develop at their own pace using their strengths while developing their areas of need.  It has always been my belief that each child can learn given the opportunity, guidance, support and confidence to grow.  At Love 4 Learning my objective is to support young learners in the learning process while helping each child to discover and meet their true potential.  It is my personal goal to inspire in each child a love 4 learning.
